Now you see me 2
Editing Techniques:
1.
Wipe
to the right - it is used nearer the end of the opening sequence after Jack has
stolen the man’s wallet and watch and then made his getaway. Jack jumped from
the boat taxi to the boarding station and this shows him transitioning from the
shot.
2.
L-cut
- it is used once jack stole from the man and the man realizes that he has been
tricked, the music rises to create tempo and the pace increases as Jack makes
his getaway.
3.
Action
cut - it is used when the man reveals how Jack did his trick, and then in turn
reveals it to the other taxi boat members. This shot type builds tension and
creates a fast pace for the audience expect a reaction.
4.
Cutaway
- this technique allows the audience to see the taxi boat members reaction as
well as when Jack did his performance.
5.
J-cut
- this technique was used at the beginning of the scene, when the taxi boat
members are listening to Jack explain his trick however he is actually only
just embarking the boat.
Theory: I believe that the theory for ‘now you see me 2’ is the Enigma code, because the clues are only revealed piece by piece however not enough is revealed in the beginning of the film making the audience want to watch more to find out and have a clear understanding of the final reveal. All the effects/pranks/tricks performed by the actors make the audience believe that they have a simple understanding of what is happening however in reality there are multitudes of unexpected twists and turns making ‘now you see me 2’ follow the rules of the Enigma Code.
