Overall, there are 20 titles to the opening scene of the film Hostage. The first titles that the audience sees are the production company and the main actors in the film. The reason for seeing the main actors first is because they are the most important for the audience to know. Also, they play the lead roles in the film, therefore, it is letting the audience who is playing who in the film.
The production companies are also one of the first titles that the audience sees because they are the people who have given the film the money to be made and bring the audience in; they have the first opening scene.
The font in the opening scenes is very bold and striking, giving the audience the sense of intimidation. It is also set on a very harsh background of red, white and black. The font goes from one of the three colours, depending on which colour the background is. This creates the idea of power, which the audience doesn't have.
The title is bold and stands out, which creates the idea of power and the use of bold text makes the audience feel suspense and intimidated by the opening scene, with very little revealed about the film.
In comparing the two titles, they are very similar, in which they both use the same order of titles of who is involved in the filming of the film. In this case, 'Hostage' uses more titles than 'Se7en'. 'Hostage' also uses bolder text and bolder colours than 'Se7en'; both films reveal little about the film in the opening sequence.
I think that 'Se7en' creates a better thriller genre because more tension is created with the jittery writing and dark background colours
